The Buckinghamshire roads with the most congestion last year have been revealed.

When driving, being stuck in some kind of traffic feels like a regular occurrence due to the sheer amount of road work going on.

Data from The Online Marketing Surgery agency and national truck dealer Cromwell Trucks shows how many seconds drivers were held up per mile on average across a variety of roads.

This data is taken from 2023.

Two key findings revealed that the A404 northbound within M40 junction is the most delayed motorway/major A road in the county, with a vehicle being held up by 163.8 seconds per mile.

In addition to this, the county in 2022 was ranked 20th in terms of being the most congested area in the country.

According to the accident compensation experts Claims.co.uk, statisticians anaylsed data relating to traffic congestion within local authorities throughout 2022.

This included looking at the number of miles that all vehicles have travelled through the area, the number of licensed vehicles, and the average number of vehicles that travel through on an average day of the year (average daily flow count).

This data was combined to create a total ‘congestion score’ out of 100 for each local authority.

Out of the 25 places listed, Buckinghamshire ranked as 20th with 3.9m drivers going through the county during the year, with the average daily flow in 2022 being 5,175 vehicles.

Overall, Bucks had an average score of 44.65/100, with the lower result being the better.

Hampshire came out on top with an incredible 83.01/100, as an average of 4,499 vehicles make it through daily without getting caught in congestion out of 9.2m, with the latter figure being the annual average.

A spokesman for Claims.co.uk commented: “The amount of traffic congestion in a given area can differ drastically depending on factors such as how many vehicles are registered there or how many miles are travelled each day.”
