The Coroner’s Court has provided an update on whether they will look into the death of a popular homeless man from High Wycombe.

Edward ‘Eddie/Edd’ McDonald, died on Sunday, May 5 at the Old Tea Warehouse on Amersham Hill.

The 57-year-old’s sudden passing has caused a huge shock in the town, as the Chelsea FC supporter, known in the area as ‘the man who sat outside Iceland,’ would regularly stop and chat amongst those walking along the High Wycombe High Street.

Since his death, thousands of online tributes posted on social media, whilst many flowers, his favourite football club shirts, and numerous photos have been placed at his go-to spot.

His funeral will take place on Tuesday, June 4.

A spokesperson from the Buckinghamshire Coroners Office said: “No inquest date has been set; we are still establishing a cause of death.

“If an inquest is required; the details will be on the Buckinghamshire Council website.”

The Old Tea Warehouse, which is run by the Riverside Group in Liverpool, has also told the Free Press that whilst they ‘couldn’t comment’ on specific cases, but are currently conducting their own internal investigation, whilst also assisting the coroner with their own findings.
