An immense show of community support saw 50 cyclists journey through the Chiltern Hills on Saturday, May 18, for the highly successful Teddy's 10 Year Tour charity bike ride.

The event marked a decade since Teddy's Wish was established, following the tragic death of founders Jen and Chris Reid's baby boy Eddie.

Support and cheer were aplenty as cyclists crossed the finishing line at Davenies School in Beaconsfield, with the local business Knead Pizza providing delicious food at the end of the day.

Established following the heartbreaking loss of their baby to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) on April 16, 2014, Teddy's Wish helps fund baby loss research and offers support to grieving families.

Founders Jen and Chris Reid said the cycle ride marked 10 years since their devastating loss and was a deeply moving day long to be remembered.

Mrs Reid said: "It was an incredibly humbling and overwhelming day for us which will live long in our memory and in our hearts.

"We have so far raised over £87,000 and the precious funds will be used to continue to fund our bereavement counselling service to provide vital support for parents devastated by the loss of a child.

"They say it takes a village to raise a child but we think it takes a community to sustain a charity - thank you to everyone who came to support us."

Furthermore, she opened up about their personal journey with grief.

"Losing Eddie was, and always will be, the most devastating loss for us.

"Every anniversary is hard but there is something very poignant about 10 years," Mrs Reid explained, describing the years after their loss as a time of learning to "move forward with Eddie in our hearts."

The tragedy and loss the family experienced underscores the motivation and driving force behind establishing and running Teddy's Wish.

They believe the answers to how a "seemingly healthy baby could die unexpectedly" are out there, and through their charitable pursuits, they hope to bring these answers to light.

The money raised from Teddy's 10 Year Tour will directly fund the charity's bereavement counselling service, providing much-needed support to families also experiencing the heartrending loss of a child.

Donations are still being accepted for Teddy's Wish and can be made through the link https://www.justgiving.com/team/teddystour2024.

For a decade, Teddy's Wish has endeavoured to bring solace to grieving families while increasing understanding around baby loss.

It's clear that with continued dedication and community support like Saturday's turnout, the charity will carry on making a significant impact in many lives, always with Eddie in their hearts.
