A charity football match day in aid of the mental health cause, Mind, occurred in Chinnor at the start of this month.

Taking place on Sunday, June 2 at the Chinnor Community Pavilion, the event was made up of ex-players from the Chinnor Athletic Sunday team.

In all, 40 people turned up to play with several new faces also arriving.

The matched finished 10-4 to side known as Chris’ Purples, who defeated Rod’s Reds.

Following the match, it was revealed that £2,000 was raised.

Andy Morgan, who is a member of the committee that helped organise the event, said: “The day was amazing.

£we had lots of people turn up, not just to play but to watch too, we were very grateful to every one of them, even the sun shined on us.”

Steve Rockall, who is also part of the committee, added: “The support we received from the local businesses with the donations and raffle prizes was fantastic.

“The money raised was unbelievable & we will certainly will be doing it again next year.”

There was also a raffle with some of the prizes including tickets to watch Wycombe Wanderers player, along with a food hamper and a Studley wood gold voucher, amongst many other items.
