HIGH Wycombe has one of the highest rates of angling cheats in the country.
Spot checks by Environment Agency officers in the Thames area found that 30 per cent of anglers in Wycombe could not produce a fishing licence.
Heidi Stone, Environment Agency regional fisheries manager, said: "We are deliberately targeting waters known to have a high evasion rate. If you do go fishing without a licence we will catch you." The fine for failing to produce a valid fishing permit is on average £160. The cost of a fishing licence is £20.
