A team of volunteers has made big improvements to a beloved Chesham green area.
The team, organised by Chesham Environmental Group, tidied up parts of Lowndes Park and was praised by Chesham Town Council for its ‘fantastic work’.
The group carried out its final work party of July, making it the group’s ‘busiest month in a very long time’.
Volunteers met in the Community Orchard in Lowndes Park and set about re-staking and supporting any young fruit trees that were leaning over.
It also removed tall grass growing within the protective wire enclosures, removed any wire enclosures for trees which have reached maturity, created footpaths through the long grass within the orchard, and carried out general litter picking around the park.
The group said: “We had 10 volunteers for this work session, including four new volunteers from a local geo caching group who were very welcome. Thank you.”
The litter pick around the park filled five litter bags, which were collected by Buckinghamshire Council.
