Pizza Express will give its restaurant at the Eden Shopping Centre a facelift after planning officers approved plans for the new makeover.

The chain’s High Wycombe branch will see a service hatch installed in the glass at the front of the eatery, which is next door to Nando’s.

A small awning will cover the service hatch, which will look out onto the restaurant’s outdoor seating area.

Planners said: “There are no significant changes proposed to the ground floor layout with existing first floor seating to be rearranged and atrium planting decorations proposed.”

Meanwhile, the restaurant will also be decked out with new illuminated gold signage on the exterior of the building.

A new projecting sign will be fitted, as well as new lettering covered with gold leaf spelling out ‘Pizza Express’.

The existing window decorations at the site will also be replaced with a new illustration of a skyline in gold, similar to those which have already been rolled out at other branches.

Planning officers wrote: “The proposed signage, in terms of its siting, design and appearance does not contribute to visual cluttering effect nor out of keeping upon the public realm when there are several local precedents of projecting signs nearby.”
