A former café in High Wycombe is set to become housing under a new plan submitted to Buckinghamshire Council.
Amjad Khan has put forward plans to create a new studio apartment on the ground floor of 83 Easton Street, which already has two flats above it on the first floor.
The property formerly housed ‘Karak Chai’, a business with a similar name to the Indian tea and café chain Karak Chaii, which has an outlet on Oxford Street, Wycombe.
However, the ground floor of the Easton Street site has most recently been used as offices, split into two sections.
Mr Khan’s application proposes to turn the office in the rear section into a single bedroom and lounge area.
Floor plans submitted by the applicant show that show that an existing small storeroom on the ground floor will be removed, but that the shower room and kitchen will be retained.
Mr Khan’s plans state: “Each new room within the proposed flat will have a natural openable window. These windows already exist in the rear element of the Class E unit.”
The Easton Street property also previously housed the Curry Centre, a family-run Indian restaurant that opened in 1970 and was believed to be the oldest curry house in High Wycombe.
