A High Wycombe man is set to remove a tree on his neighbour’s boundary due to a ‘privacy concern’ after Buckinghamshire Council has approved his plans.
Planning officers told Leigh Ainger this week that they had decided not to make a tree preservation order for the conifer he wants to cut down in Rye View.
They said there were no reasons under town planning laws why he could not proceed with the tree felling.
In a decision notice this week, planners reminded the applicant that if he proposed any further works, he must again notify the council of his intentions.
They also said that the work must be carried out within two years of their letter and by a qualified tree surgeon.
Mr Ainger’s plans read: “We would like to remove a conifer tree that is on our boundary line with No. 9 Rye View.
“The tree causes a security and privacy concern as the fence panel between the two properties has had to be removed due to its location.
“The tree is within five meters of our house, blocking natural light to the house as well as the potential damage caused by the roots.”
Mr Ainger said ivy had grown around the conifer, potentially harming the tree’s health and submitted pictures showing where the tree stands in a section of missing fence, providing a view into the next-door garden.
