A Wycombe Wanderers fan has done their bit to try and paint the town light and dark blue.
With the season now well underway, many supporters have been spotted in and around the town donning their kits either on matchdays or as they go about their business.
But one fan wanted to spread his love for the Chairboys in the town centre, by placing a scarf on one of High Wycombe’s statues.
William ‘Willie’ Reid told the Free Press: “Earlier in the day [September 9], I strolled over to Frogmoor where there is a statue of three people which is anonymous to most passers by.
“In fact it is called ‘Passers by’ and was designed by Robert Erskine and unveiled in 1987 by Selina Scott.
"In order to bring some interest to the statue on this Wycombe Celebrates Day [on September 8], I thought I would tie a Wycombe Wanderers scarf around the neck of the young lad in the statue and place a ball at his feet.
“When I returned around 3.45pm the scarf was still in place but the ball had vanished.
“You can only try!”
When the Free Press went and visited the statue in the evening of September 10, the scarf had also been taken.
Wycombe’s next match is away at Northampton Town on September 14, with the next home fixture being on September 17 against Brighton & Hove Albion U21s in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
