The Oarsman, one of Marlow's beloved bistro-pubs, has found itself with a ‘troublesome lodger’ – renowned chef Simon Bonwick has moved in for a special residency.
The indefinite residency will see Bonwick host an exclusive soiree at an intimate, communal ‘shared table’ for 12 lucky guests in The Oarsman’s upstairs dining room.
The bistropub has launched the unique culinary event to be enjoyed as a two, three, four or take the whole table for 12. The exclusive experience will take place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with guests arriving from 7:30pm for dinner at 8:00pm, and an additional lunch service at 1pm on the last Thursday of each month.
Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy Bonwick’s creative and carefully crafted dishes in a cosy, bijou setting, adorned with the chef’s own artwork, which will also be available for purchase. The six-course menu, priced at £85, will change regularly but guests will be tucking into the likes of Freshly Cracked Crab Taco, Apple ‘n’ Caramelised Nuts, A5 Wagyu Beef Fillet with Beef Sauce, The Lodger’s Delight for dessert and Michel Cluizel Chocolate Sablée with Mango Sorbet.
Wine pairings are also on the menu from The Oarsman’s resident wine expert, Nigel Sutcliffe, who will pair each course with a handpicked selection of ‘phantasmagorical’ wines from The Oarsman’s extensive wine list.
Simon Bonwick, who has earned Michelin stars and other prestigious accolades throughout his career, is now returning to solo cooking after leading successful establishments such as The Crown at Burchetts Green and The Dew Drop Inn, Maidenhead.
