A High Wycombe care home has become a new drop-off point for food donations.
Care UK's Ridley Manor residents and team members have teamed up, encouraging the community to donate their extra, unused or unwanted non-perishable food items to the care home's reception, to celebrate this year's Harvest Festival.
The festival, dating back to when people relied on crops for food, and farmers would give thanks for a good harvest, aims to encourage others to reflect and show gratitude for the food they have.
The new foodbank drop-off point, which will see donations made to Lane End Food Hub, will be active at Ridley Manor until Thursday, October 31.
Estelle Adriaans, general manager at Ridley Manor, said: "Working with Lane End Food Hub for this year’s Harvest Festival is a meaningful way for us to extend our care beyond the walls of our home.
"By setting up foodbank drop-off points at our care home, we’re creating an opportunity for residents, the team, and local people to come together in the spirit of giving.
"This reflects our commitment to supporting those in need and helping to ensure that everyone has access to the resources they require, especially as we head into the winter months, when more support is often needed."
Care UK homes across the country will be participating in the annual festival, with every donation made to one of the homes being contributed to food banks.
Ridley Manor is designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The home provides full-time residential, nursing, dementia, and respite care.
