A man in High Wycombe is set to build a sauna and gym onto the side of his garage after being given permission by Buckinghamshire Council.
The applicant has been given the greenlight to build a single-storey extension onto to the side of his existing detached garage on Rectory Avenue.
The successful applicant said his new leisure facilities would not require any changes to the main house or reduce the number of available parking spaces, with the existing garage to be retained.
Floorplans for the project show a sauna, a shower, a changing room and a gym, with several pieces of equipment including benches and weights.
The homeowner's application says that the single-storey structure gym building will be similar to those already approved in his area.
His plans read: “The proposals are minimal in size, single storey and sensitive to the architecture of the existing house through their simplicity.
“They have limited impact upon the scale and massing of the property and located subserviently at the rear of the site.”
The area of land the extension to the garage will be built upon is shown in the plans as a lawn with a play area and slide.
Use of the new outbuilding will ‘provide additional facilities for the house owners’ and not change the use of their property, according to the application.
After advice from planners, the length of the building was reduced by 2m during the design stage.
