New developments comprising 111 new homes will help tackle Wycombe’s housing shortage, the town’s MP Emma Reynolds has said.
Paradigm Housing will soon welcome families into 39 new affordable homes at Clay Hill in Booker and is in the early stages of developing another 22 homes at the former Needham Bowl site off Desborough Road.
The housing association also has permission for 50 new affordable homes Glynswood off Green Hill in the north of the town.
Paradigm’s new homes have been welcomed by Ms Reynolds, who lived in council housing in Walsall as a child with her mother after her parents separated.
The Labour MP said: “Having grown up in a council flat, I know first-hand the value of affordable housing.”
She added: “I look forward to working with Paradigm Housing and other stakeholders to tackle the acute housing shortage in Wycombe.”
The new Labour government has pledged to build 1.5 million new homes over the next parliament and has set new housing targets for local authorities.
Buckinghamshire Council, which does not have its own housing stock, is now expected to deliver 4,122 new homes annually – a 42 per cent increase on its previous target.
The council granted permission for the Glynswood development in 2022, including 10 one-bedroom flats, 10 two-bedroom flats, three two-bedroom houses, 22 three-bedroom houses and five four-bedroom houses.
Plans for Clay Hill were approved the same year, including three blocks housing 18 flats, 20 houses and one bungalow.
