Video footage has shown the moment a thug who glassed a man in a savage pub attack was pulled from underneath a car by a hero police dog.
Tyler Simmons, 29, from Aylesbury flew into a rage and glassed a man in the face after pub staff asked him to leave.
The victim was trying to calm the situation down with security staff when Simmons punched him before attacking him with a glass.
Simmons then fled the pub in High Street, Greens Norton, Northants, after the attack on the evening of June 11, 2022.
Police were called and minutes later police dog PD Olly and his handler PC Sam Clark arrived to find Simmons.
Police bodycam shows PD Olly searching garages near the pub before spotting Simmons hiding under a parked 4x4.
PC Clark is heard radioing her colleagues while ordering Simmons to remain on his back.
After back-up arrives, Simmons is ordered to roll out from his hiding place before being handcuffed.
Simmons was found guilty of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm following a trial at Northampton Crown Court.
On November 4 he was jailed for three years and ten months.
Detective Constable Natasha Bolding, of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s Major Crime team, said: “Tyler Simmons has a long history of violence and I’m really pleased to see him jailed for this unprovoked attack, for which he showed no remorse.
“That evening, the victim had been minding his own business when he fell into conversation with Simmons, and when Simmons reacted aggressively to being asked by pub staff to leave, the victim bore the brunt of his rage.
“Simmons’ reaction was to resort to immediate and extreme violence, and it is only by luck that the victim escaped serious physical injury at his hands – the mental scars are another matter entirely.”
