Nearly £3,000 has been raised for the neonatal department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
The funds have been spearheaded by two local nursery workers, Miss Abbey and Miss Anisa, who will run a half marathon from Downley to the Aylesbury-based hospital on Wednesday, November 20.
The initial target that was set was £1,000, but at the time of writing, £2,610 has been donated.
The two women, who work for the Chiltern Hills Montessori Nursery, aim to reach as close to the £3,000 mark as possible before they complete the challenge.
They said: “Our commitment to this cause reflects our dedication to helping vulnerable babies and their families, making it a special event for our community.
“By taking on this challenge, we aim to provide essential support to the hospital's neonatal unit, which plays a crucial role in caring for premature and critically ill newborns.
“This run not only symbolizes our compassion but also serves as an opportunity for people to contribute and raise funds for the department.”

The distance between Downley and Stoke Mandeville Hospital is 13.1 miles – half of what a marathon is.
