A jewellery shop in High Wycombe which is set to close next month has thanked its customers after spending 17 years in the town.

Beaverbrooks, which is situated in the Eden Centre, will shut for the final time on Sunday, March, ending its nearly two-decade stint in the shopping complex.

Signs and posters were erected in the outlet confirming that most items were now on a 30 per cent discount, but no reason was given as to why the store would be closing.

But Anna Blackburn, who is the business’ managing director, has told the Free Press that the shop is ‘no longer commercially viable’.

She said: “We are committed to doing the best for our customers, colleagues, suppliers and wider communities.

“As part of this, we continually review business performance and positioning of our local stores to align with our customers’ shopping habits and needs.

“However, due to a range of factors, our High Wycombe store is no longer commercially viable, and after careful and thorough consideration we have made the difficult decision to close it.”

She continued that despite the shop closing in March, customers will still be able to visit branches in neighbouring Bracknell and Reading across the border in Berkshire.

The MD continued: “We pride ourselves on our people-first culture and the open, honest relationships we have built with our colleagues.

“Our directors met with each team member in person to ensure the news was delivered with the utmost care and respect.

“We aim to retain as many colleagues as possible within other Beaverbrooks stores or the wider business and are working closely with each individual affected to provide them with options tailored for their specific needs, supporting them with their next steps whatever they may be.

“I’d like to share a heartfelt thank you to our High Wycombe community and every colleague and customer that has been a part of our journey in High Wycombe over the past 17 years.”

The store first opened in High Wycombe back in 2008.
