An M40 driver was arrested after a 'proactive' stop and search reportedly found him with 'drugs and a knife' during a police crackdown on motorway offences.
Police pulled over the driver of the Volkswagen Golf on the M40 on Tuesday, March 10, as part of a 'targeted enforcement' operation to stop bad motorway driving, with a focus on 'middle lane hogging'.
Police said: "Officers stopped the car and arrested the driver who was found in possession of a large quantity of class A drugs and a knife. This was following a proactive stop and search."

It was one of 60 other road offences dealt with during the operation, which included 24 cases of careless driving or 'middle lane hogging'.
Careless driving was recently added to the police campaign against the 'fatal four' - now the 'fatal five' - offences which cause most harm on the road.
Thames Valley Police officers seized five vehicles during the M40 crackdown, two of them for having no tax and three under Section 165, meaning the driver failed to produce valid licence or documentation.

Other matters dealt with on the day included 10 mobile phone offences, eight no seatbelt offences, four cars with no insurance and two with no licence.
Issues relating to window tint, dangerous carriage of passengers, tyre offences and anti-social driving were also identified.
A spokesperson for the force said: "The Roads Policing Tasking Team covers all three counties within the Thames Valley Police area.
"We are out every day working to keep our roads safe and to create a hostile environment for those using the road network to commit serious traffic or criminal offences."
