People turned out in their droves to enjoy the scorching heat today, (May 24), as the mercury reached 27 degrees in Wycombe.

Sun-worshippers flocked to the town's parks and green spaces for picnics and sunbathing as temperatures soared on one of the hottest UK May days in history.

We sent photographer Ian Longthorne, out to capture some of these special moments in the sunshine.

Sunbathing, ice creams and pub beer gardens were the order of the day for most as people of all ages enjoyed the unusually hot weather over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Our photographer captured all the smiling faces in The Rye park in Bassetsbury Lane throughout the sweltering afternoon.

The high temperatures over the weekend means that the UK is currently hotter than Mediterranean holiday destinations like Ibiza and Majorca.

Tomorrow (Monday, May 25) is forecast to be the hottest day of the year so far in High Wycombe, with expected highs reaching 33 degrees.
