The first World Cup group games are done and dusted, but now, as the 48 teams aim to impress further, TV shows will see more schedule changes this week, including Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

ITV’s coverage of the football will yet again disrupt the usual soaps schedule that fans are used to.

Here’s what we know about the changes for the week ahead and which episodes the TV schedule shake-up affects.

TV schedule changes for Emmerdale and Coronation Street this week

Normally, Emmerdale is on at 8pm Monday to Friday, while Corrie can be watched from 8.30pm on the same days.

Fans will spot some differences this week, though.

On Monday, June 22, the soaps will be on for an hour each (30 minutes longer than usual), with Emmerdale starting at 8pm and Corrie following straight after at 9pm.

The soaps also switch from the normal slots on Tuesday (June 23) due to the Portugal v Uzbekistan match kicking off at 6pm.

This means Emmerdale will air a 30-minute episode at 9pm, while Coronation Street follows at 9.30pm, also for 30 minutes.

Emmerdale's most iconic couples

There will be no episodes on Wednesday (June 24) as Switzerland take on Canada at 8pm, but hour-long episodes return on Thursday (June 25) with Emmerdale airing at 8pm and Corrie at 9pm.

Friday (June 26) will not be a soaps day with no new episodes scheduled to air as ITV broadcasts the Norway v France match.

However, with the two nights of one-hour episodes, fans still get the usual 5x 30-minute episodes for each soap, but in a different way.

When is the World Cup final?

The World Cup will run until Sunday, July 19, when the winner will be announced following the final match.

England and Scotland have impressed so far by winning their first matches and will look to build on that to progress out of the group stage and into the knockouts.
