A new sour sweet is swooping into shops just in time for spooky season.

Haribo has launched its first-ever Halloween-themed sour sweet in the UK, called Haribo Sour Bats.

The bat-shaped gummies come in three fruity flavour pairings: orange and blackcurrant, green apple and blackcurrant, and cherry and blackcurrant.

Duncan Tyrrell, head of category at Haribo UK, said: "Halloween is one of the biggest seasonal opportunities in the confectionery calendar and brings increased shopper interest and the potential to drive significant footfall and impulse sales for independent retailers.

"With Halloween taking place on a Saturday and strong sales anticipated in the weeks running up, we are advising retailers to stock up early to take advantage of a bumper year.

"Our Halloween range combines much-loved seasonal favourites with exciting new additions such as Haribo Sour Bats, giving retailers a strong mix of formats and price points to build shopper excitement, meet different shopper needs and drive sales throughout the season."

Sour Bats were introduced originally to the US as a seasonal Halloween sweet by Haribo.

Fans said: "These lil' sour gummy bats are so addicting. So delicious." and "I eat them religiously."

Another fan said: "Where can I find Haribo Sour Bats?! I NEED these in my life more than just during Halloween. Can't find a big bag online. Please help."

The sweets are now available in the UK as part of Haribo’s full seasonal range, and are exclusive to the wholesale and convenience channel.

A 140g bag is priced at £1.25.

The wider Halloween range includes returning favourites such as Haribo Bone Shakers, MAOAM Halloween Mixx, MAOAM Stripes, and the Starmix Pumpkin Bumper Box.

All products feature refreshed packaging, including new designs of Haribo’s Goldbear mascot dressed in skeleton, bat, and pumpkin costumes.

Each pack also carries the 'Halloween Monster Approved' stamp, designed to help shoppers quickly identify themed treats.

With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year, Haribo expects strong demand and is encouraging retailers to stock up early.

The company believes its mix of returning favourites and new products will help drive sales and excitement throughout the season.
