Comedian Ricky Gervais has put his riverside Marlow home on the market for £2.95 million after revealing plans to marry long-term partner Jane Fallon following her cancer diagnosis.
The Office creator recently said he and Fallon, who have been together since 1982, intend to marry in part to avoid a large inheritance tax bill should one of them die.
Earlier this year, author and television producer Fallon revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram and had undergone surgery.
The four-bedroom detached property sits on the banks of the River Thames in Marlow and has been listed for sale at £2.95m.
Gervais bought the home in 2014 for around £2.75m.
The house occupies a secluded riverside plot and boasts a private mooring, tennis court and extensive gardens.
Estate agents Savills describe it as an "extraordinary opportunity" to acquire a home on the river in Marlow.
The sale comes months after Gervais secured planning permission to demolish the existing property and replace it with a substantially larger neo-Georgian-style mansion.
Proposed plans include a gym, drawing room, reading area, lift and terrace overlooking the grounds.
The redevelopment attracted attention because of flooding concerns at the Thames-side site.
Planning documents submitted as part of the application stated that the property has experienced flooding several times since the 1940s.
Speaking recently, Gervais said inheritance tax was a key factor behind his decision to finally marry, admitting that it would protect their assets.
The Marlow property was added to the market earlier this month and is being marketed through Savills.
