A Buckinghamshire firefighter has completed a 100km endurance challenge while raising money for the Fire Fighters Charity.

Watch Commander Gavin Darvell, who works at Beaconsfield Fire Station and also serves as an on-call firefighter in Aylesbury, finished the Thames Path 100km event after months of training.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service praised Mr Darvell's achievement in a social media post, describing it as the result of "dedicated training, determination and hard work".

The challenge saw participants travel from Putney Bridge in London to Henley, with Mr Darvell aiming to complete the course in under 24 hours.

Mr Darvell, 44, has worked for Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service for nearly 24 years, having started his career as an on-call firefighter before moving into a wholetime role.

At time of writing, he has raised £1,020, and his fundraising page remains open for donations.
