TOY enthusiasts will be reaching for their wallets when a rare collection of model vehicles goes under the hammer.

The thousands of die-cast and other vehicles go on sale at the Amersham Auction Rooms, Station Road, on Tuesday at 6pm, after the death of an enthusiastic collector, who lived in High Wycombe.

The sale will consist of 275 lots of model vehicles from famous manufacturers including Corgi, Dinky and Matchbox. Most of the toys are still boxed and unused. It will also include 50 lots of transport-orientated books, magazines, catalogues, timetables and photographs.

Dick Ellis, director and auctioneer of the Amersham Auction Rooms, said: "This collection really is different. Most serious collectors concentrate on individual models.

"This gentlemen was not only a specialist collector of model buses, but also seems to have collected multiple models of anything that had wheels and used the public highway."
