THE success of Kay and Mike Willis' word-based board game has grown by leaps and bounds since it was launched five months ago through their company 4th Law.

On July 10, the creation of Wordblind will be featured on Carlton TV at 7.30pm as part of its documentary-style programme My Brilliant Idea.

Mike is also talking to companies with a view to turning the game into a TV show.

"It has been fantastic," said Mike. "Every day brings something new and we are now spreading our wings.

"We have followed our dream and we have come out of it with glowing colours."

The original concept of Wordblind came in 1989 while the couple were living in Spain and trying to learn the language along with neighbour Keith Miles.

As they delved through the dictionaries, they came up with a game based on guessing words from definitions.

The result was Wordblind, a game of skill and chance, which has its own ever-changing board that grows as the game progresses and challenges players' comprehension of everyday words.

Wordblind was produced with private investment and launched on to the market via the internet and direct sales last December with resounding success.

Mike and Kay have exhibited at the London Toy Fair, the New York Toy Fair and Wordblind is now available at Hamleys. Interest from the USA and Europe is 'colossal' said Mike.

"It was the London Toy Fair that started it off," he explained. "It is very refreshing to know that we have discovered that there is nothing like our game."

Both, however, have kept their feet firmly on the ground when it comes to finance.

They are the only two directors who take a salary and work very much within their financial restraints, although they have now moved from the tiny space they occupied in West Wycombe Road to larger offices in the same building.

The company also sponsors a number of events, including the co-sponsorship of the monthly meetings run by free story magazine ABCtales.

Kay and Mike are now planning to launch the Junior and Genius editions in the near future, as well as a US edition of Wordblind.

Wordblind (£29.95) is available on freephone (0800) 085 5858 or via the internet on the website www.wordblind.com.

Not Just Stamps in Crendon Street, High Wycombe, also stocks the game.
