Today it seemed like a good idea to go for a ride in my car, with nowhere special to visit my car took me wherever I felt like going.
While driving through Beaconsfield New Town the shop windows took my eye, each shop was displaying their goods and it looked rather nice.
My journey continued through Penn, Hazlemere, Widmer End, Kingshill and finally along Hughenden Road, there was still some time to spare so I went for a quick spin around the town centre.
While driving up Oxford Road I looked at the side of the new Eden complex and was stunned to see a blank brick wall punctuated with fire escapes facing the road where the pedestrians and motorists will be passing by, there are no shop windows for displaying goods at all.
Will the new shops have nothing to show to the passing pedestrian or motorist? Have they given up trying to temp us inside with nice window displays? What will visitors to the town think while they wait in the traffic jams looking at boring brick walls?
It was a sharp contrast to Beaconsfield where the shops were proud to show their goods to the passers by.
