Re: The re-siting of a mobile phone mast at Flackwell Heath
THE original site at the Water Tower was thought to be dangerous as it was too close to Juniper Hill School.
The new proposed site at Green Dragon Lane Sports Field is as near or nearer to the school and lots of youngsters play football or cricket there.
As for dangers to health, a top doctor at The John Radcliffe Hospital at Oxford (which has a mast on its building) has been quoted as saying that you would have to stand in front of the mast for 24 hours a day for it to be likely to be of any harm.
It is my guess that a large percentage of parents ferrying their off-spring to the school in their people carriers and jeeps have a mobile phone in their possession.
Is it a case of 'I want to be part of modern technology' but not in my back garden?
