Isn’t it odd that out of 4,031 Thames Valley police officers caught speeding or jumping a red light not one was issued with a ticket?

I mean at least most of the other police forces made an effort. Out of the 28 that provided figures when requested under the Freedom of Information Act, Thames Valley, it is revealed today, is one of only five forces that didn’t penalise any of its officers.

For instance Avon & Somerset, which only had 863 officers caught breaking the law, actually handed tickets to 54 of them.

You see when over 4,000 police officers break the law like that, it’s not sending out a good message when none of them are penalised is it?

I accept that some have been nabbed while on an emergency, but this is actually only a small per centage of the overall total – I believe nationally it works out at around a quarter. That still leaves a lot of law-breaking police officers out there.

In the words of one former tennis star: ‘You cannot be serious?’

It gives a vew that those enforcing the law are putting themselves above the law ... and guess what that does for building good relations with the public?
