SCORES of family and friends turned out in Beaconsfield to say their final farewells to Holby City actress Laura Sadler.

St Mary's and All Saints Church was crowded as BBC chiefs and cast from the hit hospital drama arrived in force for Wednesday's funeral.

The 1pm ceremony was followed by a private service at Chilterns Crematorium, Amersham, with close friends joining immediate family for a reception at Hazlemere Golf Club.

Laura, 22, of High Wycombe, fell to her death from a second floor balcony last month.

Her boyfriend George Calil, 30, who plays drug-dealer Sean Hunt in the show made a brief appearance at the main service. He stayed away from the family service but left a red rose simply signed "G".

Mal Young, series controller, who gave the main reading at the 50-minute service conducted by Rev John Wynburne, told mourners everyone at Holby City and across the BBC were devastated by Laura's death.

He said: "Television has lost a talent who had so much more to give. She brought so much to the role with her infectious enthusiasm, dedication and 100 per cent enthusiasm."

Hugh Quarshie, consultant Ric Griffin in the show, read Robyn Rancman's poem, Miss Me But Let Me Go. He added: "It was an honour to know and work with Laura. She was so talented, unassuming, selfless and un-starry."

Beacon Funeral Services had to supply a second hearse to carry bouquets to the Windsor End church. Close behind were mother Sonja, comforted by husband Steven, of Hayfield Drive, Hazlemere, adopted grandma Nanny and two close friends. Amidst the mourners were fellow cast members Tina Hobley, Mark Moraghan, Lisa Bradshaw-White and Jeremy Edwards, with fiancee Rachel Stevens from pop band S-Club 7. Grange Hill cast members also attended.

Ms Sadler of Springwater Mill, High Wycombe, joined the Holby City cast in September 2000 as junior staff nurse Sandy Harper.

She died in hospital on June 20, five days after sustaining severe head injuries in a 40 ft fall at her boyfriend's Holland Park home.

Born on Christmas Day 1980, Laura attended High Wycombe drama school Jackie Palmer Agency. Her talent did not go unnoticed and a scholarship to London's Sylvia Young stage school paved the way for a promising television career.

Donations in Laura's memory can be made to the Intensive Care Unit at Charing Cross Hospital.

Metropolitan Police confirmed inquiries into Laura Sadler's death concluded this week. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
