MOUNTED police will be out in Wycombe to keep the town's street as safe as possible over the festive period.

The patrols start tomorrow from 5pm as part of the Nightsafe initiative, which aims to improve the quality of life in town centres across the district.

The mounted section will also be out next Wednesday, December 17 from 5pm and on Saturday December 27 and Friday January 2 from 10pm onwards.

Insp Russ Murden, from the Wycombe neighbourhood policing team, said: “The mounted section will be patrolling the town as part of the response to an anticipated increase in visitors to the town centre in the run-up to Christmas.

“The high visibility that the Mounted Section provides acts as a deterrent of crime and alcohol-related disorder, reducing the number of incidents during the festivities.

“They will be performing reassurance patrols and will provide support to the neighbourhood team, helping to ensure that locals have a safe and enjoyable night out in the town.”
