A ROAD was shut in Bourne End today, after a coach carrying school children crashed into a parked car.
The accident happened in Fisherman's Way, at about 8am.
No one was hurt in the collision, and the children left the coach to go to school soon after.
The coach hit a parked silver Peugeot, which in turn shunted into the blue Honda parked in front.
Gary Johnson, owner of the Peugeot and resident of the road, said he thought the coach slid on black ice.
He said: “At least I wasn't sat in it, or I'd be in hospital now. Fortunately no one was injured, and that's the main thing.
“I was inside the house when it happened. I thought a skip was being delivered next door, it was so loud. I heard a bang and my wife said 'that's your car.”
PC Sarah Dolan, of Amersham Roads Policing, said the icy conditions meant Fisherman's Way would be closed until the road could be made safe by the Highways Agency.
She said: “There's literally just so much black ice until Highways has been down and gritted it we have closed it off.”
She added she hoped the road would be reopened over the course of the morning.
It is thought the coach was on its way to a private school in the area, but this has not been confirmed.
All spellings have now been corrected. Thank you for pointing out the mistake - Neil Phillips.
