MAY I thank and compliment Jane Crompton, the organiser, and all those responsible for The Mayor and Charter Trustees’ Festival of Carols at the Swan Theatre last Sunday.

What superb singing by the eight choirs and by all of us in the theatre as we joined in the carols; what excellent playing by the Marlow Town Band and the various choir accompanists; what sensitive reading by the clergy from different churches of the traditional Bible passages, telling the story of the first glorious Christmas; what precise and clear conducting by the various conductors and what informative and interesting compering by Norman Donkin.

Another wonderful festival, drawing together many hundreds of people, young and old, of all Christian denominations, from many different races, united in their desire to remember the birth of The Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Prince of Peace and Saviour of all who believe in Him.

His message of peace and love is needed more than ever before in a world torn by hatred, division and violence.

For many of us, Christmas begins with this annual festival.

Thank you Mr Mayor and all concerned.
