A SHELTER for homeless people in Wycombe has been given a £5,000 grant after a fundraising concert delighted audiences in town.
The Wycombe Winter Night Shelter received the cash from the Buckinghamshire Foundation to help continue their work.
Bryn Haworth, a gospel blues slide guitarist, entertained the audience at The Hub in High Wycombe to help raise funds for the campaign.
The two-hour concert, held in November, raised £850 towards the shelter.
Graham Shorter, an executive from the Shelter said: "It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Bryn is a wonderful performer and a warm individual. I was tapping my feet the whole way through.”
The shelter is run by seven High Wycombe churches on each night of the week, offering meals, accommodation and guidance from volunteers.
Bill Reid, a member of the Buckinghamshire Foundation panel said: “I have visited the night shelter on a number of occasions early this year and had kept in touch on progress with some of the shelter guests and was impressed by the effectiveness of the project in addressing the needs and moving people forward.”
