Students at Amersham & Wycombe College are being set a challenge to make as much money as they can with £10.
In association with enterprising educational website Make Your Mark, the College is offering students the cash, which they have to repay, to make as much money as they can during February with a money making idea that will have a social impact.
Big name backers who have put up their own cash to show their belief in young people include entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den star, Peter Jones, the man behind the new National Enterprise Academy at the College’s Amersham campus. He started his first business before he was 18.
Prizes will be awarded nationally to those with the most profit, the greatest social impact and for ventures in special categories such as Sport and Online.
The College’s Acting Head of Faculty for Leadership and Management, Alan Bird, said there has been a lot of interest in the money making scheme from within the Business and ICT curriculum area at Amersham, but anyone at any of our College sites can apply for their tenner.
He said: “While many well known business are finding it hard to make a profit in the current economic climate, I am sure our students will step up to the mark and make a healthy return with their cash. It’s a great opportunity and we’re looking forward to seeing what our students come up with.”
