At its meeting on Thursday 19 February, the Council’s Planning Committee resolved unanimously to approve the College’s plans, conditional on extra parking spaces being provided and on additional controls on the lighting of the new building.
The key benefits of the new campus will be:-
• It will be an exemplary new facility which the College’s students, staff and the wider community can use and take pride in
• It will help the College to attract more students and to continue to improve its contribution to the economic, social and cultural life of the region
• It will include a new theatre for use as a community facility as well as an educational facility
• It will be visually attractive and less intrusive in terms of key views to the south and east
Peter Marshall, the College’s Vice-Principal for Finance and Resources, commented: “The College has worked for over two and a half years with officers of the Council and other local stakeholders and is grateful for their assistance and hard work. We look forward to continuing to work with all interested parties to make our vision for the new Amersham campus into a reality.”
