Amersham & Wycombe College’s Hair and Beauty department is donating all proceeds from its treatments taken on Thursday, March 12 and on Red Nose Day, Friday, March 13, to two worthy causes - Comic Relief and Rape Crisis.

The treatments, which will be carried out at the extensive facilities on the High Wycombe campus in Flackwell Heath, will be performed by up to 30 Hair and 15 Beauty students, supervised by tutors, all of whom are past practitioners in their specific area of expertise.

There are over 40 hair and beauty treatments to choose from on Thursday and 17 hair treatments on Friday. Typically, a shampoo, cut and blow-dry costs just £8, a complete restyle is £10, while a luxury manicure is offered at £7.50 and a cleansing facial is priced at £10. Individuals seeking further information, or those looking to book an appointment should call the College’s Hair & Beauty department on 01494 585567 Monday to Friday, from 9.15am to 4.00pm.

Lorraine Osborne, one of the College’s hair technicians, is making a further sacrifice for charity and will be taking part in a one day sponsored silence - let’s hope she’s not seconded to receptionist duties! In addition, students will enter into the fun of Red Nose Day with face paint and wigs, and will pay for the privilege of doing so, with all proceeds once again going to charity.

Meanwhile, over at the College’s Chesham campus, Health and Beauty students are on the lookout for hairy males to take part in a sponsored waxathon. While hair follicles are ripped from your body, you can take comfort in the knowledge that your pain is all for a worthy cause. The waxathon will take place on Friday 13th from 9.30 till lunch. To book a treatment call 01494 585452.

In the afternoon, beauty staff and students will be wearing their pyjamas to college, as part of another fundraising stunt.
