A SUPERMARKET in Amersham has submitted a bid to build a wind turbine in its car park.
The proposed turbine, which would be built at the Tesco store in the old town, would be 10.6 metres (34.7ft) high and 3.3 metres across.
It would take five or six weeks to prepare its foundations.
Energy generated by the turbine would then be fed back into the store. A report says it can generate enough power for four average homes.
Plans show the rotor blades would rotate horizontally around a central axis, unlike a traditional windmill.
The nearest residential property to the proposed site would be 76 metres away.
Tesco has said it intends to submit bids to build turbines at other stores across the country.
