Enterprising students and tutors at Amersham & Wycombe College raised around £2,000 for Comic Relief and over £300 for Rape Crisis last Friday – and a local reporter joined in the fun.

BBC Three Counties Radio reporter Tim Wheeler dropped into the Chesham campus on Friday for a leg waxing treatment by beauty students. While there, Tim also saw the removal of Community Education tutor Steve Cooper’s beloved dreadlocks. Steve was all set to do this last year, but pulled out at the last minute having had second thoughts. This time, he was determined to see it through and Comic Relief became £350 better off as a result. Community Education students were also in the thick of things at Chesham, having dressed up for the occasion.

Over at the Amersham campus, Business student Mike Sutton painted himself red from top to toe and toured the campus with his collection bucket, while enterprising performing arts students sold T-shirts and cakes.

Up to 30 hair and 15 beauty students put their talents to good use at the High Wycombe campus where they raised over £600 from treatments carried out on Thursday and Friday. Health & Social Care students also entered into the spirit of things with a sale of cakes and other food.
