HUNDREDS of people are flocking to High Wycombe Town Hall today hoping to liquidate their antique assets under the watchful gaze of TV star David Dickinson.
The antiques guru, nicknamed The Duke, has come to town with his hit ITV show Dickinson's Real Deal.
Sellers have their items valued by independent valuers and then can haggle with dealers, or if they are unhappy with their offers, put them up for sale at an auction in Chiswick Auction Houses.
Brenda Shakespeare, of Maple Close, Hazlemere, brought along an old playing card box and a gold bracelet dating back to 1928, after reading about the event in last week's South Bucks Star.
She said: “I saw this was happening and I thought it would be a good chance to turn things I don't really use into cash.
“I really wanted to come here today as I'm a big fan of David Dickinson, and I hope I get to meet him.”
Karen and Graham Poole, of Studley Green, had a set of old crystal cut glasses they bought 37-years-ago from an antiques dealer.
Mrs Poole said: “We have never used them so we thought 'Why not bring them down to see what they're worth?'.
“We also have four First Would War Medals which belonged to one of my relatives.”
Members of the public are still welcome to take their valuables to the show, with the doors closing at 4.30pm.
