THE search is still on for the owner of a rare brass commemorative medal found by a lady as she walked her dogs in a secluded park.

Dog-lover Valerie Dickeson believes someone out there must be missing the precious medal awarded by the Royal Academy of Music in 1929.

Mrs Dickeson, of Totteridge Lane, High Wycombe, was playing fetch with her three dogs, Lunar, Todd and Cassie in Bowerdean Recreation Ground, High Wycombe, on Friday when she noticed a shiny object under her feet.

She said: "The dogs were bringing me back a ball I had thrown for them when I noticed the reflection of it laying there in the grass."

When she picked it up and rubbed it she discovered it was an old brass medal with an inscription to Ruby Scott-Elliot for the Piano-Forte in 1929. Mrs Dickeson said: "On the other side of the medal it said the Royal Academy of Music who I would imagine presented her with the medal.

"It must be very special to someone out there who may be still alive."

She continued: "It was not buried so I would say it was dropped quite recently and not many people use the ground so that would narrow it down."

She added that there is a hole at the top of the medal through which a chain may have been threaded.

She said: "It was quite tarnished and dull but I polished it up to a lovely bronze finish. Its about the size of an old crown and quite heavy."

Anyone with information on the medal or who thinks it may belong to them should contact reporter Michelle Fleming on 01494 755151.
