CABINET member Hilary Benn visited High Wycombe to hear how a firm is supporting British farming.
Mr Benn, secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs, visited Premier Foods, which makes brands including Hovis, Kipling and Branston.
Bosses at The Lord Rank Centre, Cressex Business Park research centre told Mr Benn, son of Labour stalwart Tony Benn, how Hovis is now using British wheat only.
He said at Monday's visit: “It’s great that companies like Hovis are making buying British even easier for consumers.”
Hovis spokesman Jon Goldstone said: “We used to important £18m worth of Canadian wheat, £18m which will now go to British farmers.”
