A 'BOY racer' who killed a 50-year-old woman in a high-speed race with a friend has been jailed for nearly four years.

Dayne Brench instantly killed Bisa Lester after smashing into her car at 56mph despite braking hard.

The 22-year-old was racing through the streets of Iver with Daniel Henderson-Neil, 21, on the morning of Tuesday January 20.

Police said the pair “reached speeds well in excess of the 40mph speed limit while recklessly overtaking members of the public”.

Mother-of-two Mrs Lester was pulling out of her driveway onto Bangors Road South when Brench crashed into her after being unable to stop in time.

Brench, formerly of Wellesley Avenue, Iver, abandoned his car and was taken to hospital by Henderson-Neil, formerly of Blackpond Lane, Farnham Royal, after suffering a head injury in the crash.

Neither man called emergency services or helped Mrs Lester.

Both were sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court yesterday after admitting causing death by dangerous driving at an earlier hearing.

Brench was sentenced to three years and nine months in jail and disqualified from driving for five years.

Henderson-Neil was caged for two and a half years and disqualified from driving for four years.

Speaking after sentencing, investigating officer PC Matthew Reed said: “The sentences imposed should serve as a strong deterrent to others, particularly young drivers, who think that it is acceptable to engage in competitive driving or racing on public roads.

“Thames Valley Police will tirelessly investigate those who choose to drive dangerously, whether or not they are involved in a collision, and can expect severe sentences when prosecuted at court.

“The investigation team would like to thank the Iver community for their assistance and support during the investigation, as well as those witnesses who, through no fault of their own, found themselves caught up in the aftermath of such a horrific incident.

“They were so disgusted with the poor standard of driving that they had witnessed, they provided crucial evidence which assisted to secure the conviction of the offenders.”
