A HIGH Wycombe pub could be demolished to make way for two new blocks of flats.
Architects have made a bid to knock down the Halfway House on London Road and replace the closed pub with two blocks of six flats.
The application was officially made to Wycombe District Council yesterday by GMTW Architects, based in Easton Street in the town.
Tony Jerome, a spokesman for the Campaign for Real Ale, said: “It is always very upsetting to hear of any plans to demolish a pub.
“There are a worrying 39 pubs closing every week across Britain. At least if the pub building is still standing we have the chance of working with the local community to get it reopened, but once it is demolished it is gone for ever.”
A decision on whether to approve the plans or not is due to be made by planners in May.
