A FAMILY have been evicted from their High Wycombe council house after being said to have tormented neighbours with two years of anti-social behaviour.

The Duff family were removed from their Hawthorne Road home this morning after they ignored several warnings from Wycombe District Council about their behaviour, officials said.

It is the first time the council has successfully evicted someone under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act.

The council said the eviction was the result of a number of anti-social behaviour offences, including shouting and abusive language and abusive behaviour towards a police officer.

Katrina Wood, the council's Member for Younger and Older People, said: "This is a huge success shared between Thames Valley Police and the council.

“With it, we send the clear message that anti social behaviour is not acceptable. But above all it has to be a success for the residents whose lives must have become a living nightmare."

PC Neil Elliot, Neighbourhood Specialist Officer, said: "The eviction of Carol Duff and her family demonstrates the close working between Thames Valley Police, Wycombe District Council and the communities we serve.

“Everyone deserves the right to live in peace and without fear and the Community Safety Partnership is always working to achieve that for the people of Wycombe.”
