IF you missed it, it was a fabulous day out. On Monday we took a coach up to Downing Street to present a petition to the Prime Minister.

He wasn't there but we handed the petition in at the door and we did have the BBC and the Mail on Sunday, so look out this week for any stories on our determined action against the post office closure.

I want to thank everybody who felt strongly enough about the post office to come along and lend their support for the day.

To the gentleman who thought he would never attend a demonstration; your voice sir, was one of the loudest and best.

Even at the door of Downing Street we could hear our group crying Save our Post Office! Chesham Bois!

I think we are firmly on the national map now.

The BBC covered our story most sympathetically and our thanks to Kenyan Brigdon and Molly Brigdon for being our very own Chesham Bois-Wood stars. I hope everybody is asking you for your autographs; you really showed them what the alternatives would be like for a great number of our residents. Thank you both for your time, your hard work and your contribution.

Bucks Free Press - a big thank you for not only printing a poster for our campaign, which went up on the windows of the coach, but for sending reporter Vikki Birch along to report the event.

Other newspapers sent reporters to cover the event so there's no doubt that our protest reached the ears and eyes of millions.

Mrs Monzani deserves a big thank you for organising the coach which made the day a lot easier.

And our gratitude to Terry Stafford from Postwatch who came along to lend support.

Thank you to our MP, Cheryl Gillan, who juggled her schedule and managed to get there to support us in that awful rain.

Also, a thank you to Councillor Ian Gomm who has supported this campaign stoically from the very beginning.

Two very special ladies, Lilian Nash and Alison Naisby, have worked really hard to put the facts and figures together, and Lilian, your letter writing campaign has been brilliant and long may it continue.

Thank you to June Gossling for all the support that has come our way and the parish council for their contributions.

The biggest thank you is to all of you out there who have supported, attended and come along to everything. But it is not over yet.

I have contacted our MEP, James Elles, to see whether we have a case for the European Court of Human Rights, as I believe that the human rights of our elderly folk have been compromised.

I will update you on this as soon as I know any more. It is a stab in the dark because Post Office Ltd, seem to be above the law.

The battle goes on.

As soon as I get that brazier I will have the picket line set up. If anybody can help with organising this I would be grateful. If you see us there come and join us. Listen out for the programme of events starting on Wednesday. The news will get around and then do come and join us.

Once again let me congratulate everybody on the most excellent support for everything that is happening and long may it continue.

See you all soon and please ring me for details.
