I WAS interested to read that you have some £12,000 to spend on tree planting in the town. I noted also that you are keen to replace missing trees and you have already allocated funds to that end for Cherry Tree Road.

Some few years ago those of us who live "on the wrong side of town" were delighted to have a single tree planted on Chesterton Green. I believe it was part of some European or Environmental funded drive.

Within three months it was mown down by the people who cut the grass on behalf of Beacon Housing. It had been planted without any support or protection. Of course, nothing was done about the loss.

Chesterton Green has subsequently been designated green belt and it would seem appropriate that at least this tree be replaced, indeed for an area in the town that receives so few funds for any sort of amenity, it might be prudent to plant three, as a small copse.

Over the years our area has been eroded by an influx of traffic (re-routed and additional) in-fill development in Maxwell Road, an extension of the supermarket in Maxwell Road, the extension of the drinking licence at the pub/nightclub opposite Sainsbury's resulting in a deterioration environmentally and socially and yet we never have any funds spent on our area.

It seems that the continued policy by the town council of only directing improvements to upmarket areas and not to our area continues to discriminate against us. We can only assume you believe we are not sufficiently educated or cultured to appreciate the provision of such amenities.

I await with interest your action on this suggestion and there is no need to write to me justifying previous inaction.

Instead why not write directly to the Bucks Free Press to whom I shall copy this letter I'm sure they will want to know why we are left off every list for any spend on amenities and/or improvements.
