MARLOW have been drawn at home to Newcastle in the fourth round of the National Vase after easing past Petersfield at the weekend.

The Bucks side booked the clash against the Geordies with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Petersfield at Bisham on Sunday.

Marlow, last season's beaten semi-finalists, rode their luck in the first 15 minutes before making their extra class count.

Ali Wheatley fired them into the lead with a coolly despatched penalty flick and two well-taken second half goals from Caroline Goodman ensured a successful passage to keep Marlow on course for a league and cup double.

Marlow, chasing a second successive promotion, currently top the Trysports League first division and they have the ideal chance to improve their position at the summit when they travel to an Abingdon side whom they beat 5-0 earlier in the season.

Wycombe Rye Ladies are through to the last 16 of the National Trophy Competition where they have been drawn at home to Purley Walcountians on February 16, after receiving a bye in the previous round.

In the absence of a cup game last weekend, they played a friendly against higher league Basingstoke and fell to a 4-1 defeat.

Wycombe trailed by just the one goal at the break but conceded three goals after the restart before Sandy Boyle pulled one back.

This weekend, they resume their league programme after the Christmas break with a match against Milton Keynes.

The 2nd XI were also beaten. Sue Samways' goal was not enough as they went down 2-1 to Reading.

They play Banbury at home tomorrow as they look to pick up their first win of the season in the Trysports Premier.

But there was better luck for the 2AXI who beat Guildford 2-1 with Caroline Ellis and Liza Rowles hitting the target.

In Division Two, Amersham & Chalfont are at home to Wallingford in their first league match since the winter break.
