THAME manager Andy Sinnott has promised United fans that there will be no repeat of Saturday's bore draw when his side take on Great Wakering Rovers this weekend.

Thame failed to break the deadlock against bottom-placed Hertford Town in their Ryman Division One North clash at Windmill Road, but boss Sinnott is keen to put things right when his side travel to Wakering at the weekend.

He said: "Teams tend to come at you when you're away from home and that will give us a little more space to play behind them.

"Against Hertford, it was like the Alamo. They defended resolutely and it was one of those days when we felt we were never going to score.

"They celebrated like they had won the FA Cup at the end and I suppose that's a sort of back-handed compliment."

But Sinnott wasn't prepared to blame the defeat on his team's exertions in the previous week's FA Trophy game when they were beaten by Windsor & Eton.

He said: "There wasn't a hangover from the Windsor game. I couldn't fault their effort but things didn't quite happen for us."

Andy Williams and Tony Joyce are both in contention for a return to action after missing the Hertford game, but with Thame playing Banbury United in the quarter-finals of the Oxford Senior Cup on Tuesday, Sinnott is not keen to rush players back in.

He said: "It's a big game for us. It's the two best sides in Oxfordshire and it would be nice to win the cup three times in a row."
