A 65-METRE run and try by winger Kenny Logan saw Wasps go within two games of their first ever Eupoean final.

Wasps beat Stade Francais 27-12 in Stade's own backyard to go through 67-44 on aggregate and set up a semi-final against Pontypridd.

It was a rare defeat for Stade in Paris, and revenge for Stade's victories over Wasps in the Heineken Cup in previous seasons.

The victory was down to mammoth defence, remaining firm despite a huge Stade onslaught, and a super display by Kenny Logan.

One run, from his own 22 helped set up Wasps' first score. When Wasps were awarded a penalty, Alex King chose to pass out wide to Logan, who skipped round his marker and made 50 yards, with Fraser Waters eventually scoring the try.

That made it 8-6 to Wasps after 15 minutes of backs-to-the-wall defending against a Stade side who needed to make up 13 points from the first leg.

A Diego Dominguez penalty restored Stade's lead but that just set the scene for Logan's memorable try.

Stade were attacking deep into Wasp's half and tried to create an overlap.

But Logan intercepted a long pass to run from his own 22 to score under the posts for the converted try to make it 15-9.

Logan's day then just kept getting better when he kicked over two mammoth penalty from within his own half to make it 24-12.

Stade had continued to press, having to go for tries rather than penalties to get them back into the match.

But Wasps' defence held firm, thanks to some big tackles, though Craig Dowd was yellow-carded as he took the none-shall-pass attitude too far.

But Alex King added another penalty to ensure Wasps fans would be dancing down the Champs Elyses as they celebrated their best win of the season.
