TWO soldiers from the High Wycombe regiment are being called up to go to Afghanistan.

Lee Adams, 25, from Church End, Bledlow, and Mark Anderson, 31, from Slough, are busy training in preparation for the journey with the High Wycombe TA Royal Green Jackets.

The soldiers are going to Afghanistan at the end of February for three months.

Mr Adams, who has been in the army for two years, has not been on operational duty before.

He said: "We are in training for peace-keeping in Kabul.

"I feel positive about it and I'm looking forward to getting out there making a difference and trying to bring some stability there."

Mark Anderson, 31, from Slough, has been in the regiment since 1990, and has served in Bosnia.

He said: "We don't get opportunities like this often. We're looking forward to it."

An army spokesperson said: "It will be quite exciting. It's going to be quite an experience for them."
